It's Been a Long Time, Rush Limbaugh

I've been kinda busy.

Actually, I haven't been doing much other than lounging around Karen's parent's house. But I have a plethora of loose ends to tie up, so let's get down to business:

Movie Recommendation from Penelope the Cat

Rent The Good German.

Speaking of Rush Limbaugh

Did you know that Rush Limbaugh has a subscription service? For fifty bucks a year you can listen to prerecorded radio at your convienience. You can also look at the variety of documents he references during his show and get access to his top secret "personal" email.

I totally want this.

Karen said no dice and suggested I find gainful employment.

I've Been Awarded

OK, months ago Reb, one of my many Canadian friends, gave me an "Excellent Blogger Award". Although I thanked her on her website a while back I haven't acknowledged this publically until now:

Dear Reb:

Thank you so much for the "Excellent Blogger Award". I'm sure this most high honor is probably of the same level of prestige as a Nobel Prize. Since Nobel winners get a million dollars, I'm assuming I will be receiving a similar amount. However, my check has not arrived. Do you have my mailing address? Karen told me she'd be willing to cash it for me, as I am a cat and do not have time for such frivolus details as modern banking. Just let me know what I need to do.

So what else can I tell you . . .

Karen and George
Karen is tense. She's stressed about the house stuff (long story). Anyhoo, Karen was driving to visit Sadie and me and the typical half hour drive took over an hour. You wanna take a gander at why? It seems that George the Sequel was in Houston for Dr. DeBakey's funeral. So traffic was nutty between the airforce base and downtown.
I think it would be a kick if George flew coach.

More Freaky Politics

Did you people hear about this?

Basically, all of the local congressmen (including former presidential candidate Ron Paul) were on a plane leaving Houston and heading to D.C., only to make a sudden emergency landing in New Orleans.

They were going to vote on an aviation safety bill.
The Big Announcement

Soon we here at I Don't Pretend to be an Ordinary Cat are planning to implement a new feature:

What the Crap Wednesdays
Basically, all the things we find annoying, bizarre, whatever will be featured every Wednesday. I've sent Karen out and about in Redneck Hell taking pictures. She's stockpiling some really awesome stuff.

However, she won't give me anything until after the house sells and we are moved.

But stay tuned, my friends, stay tuned.

Sunday Morning News Shows

OK, you know what the discussion was on ALL of the uberimportant Sunday morning news shows?

McCain's commercial.

Have you seen it?
Well, regardless let me give you my new favorite mantra:
"The three most boring topics of conversation are: Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and the pigmentation of Barack Obama." -- George Will
And that's all I'm sayin' about that.
So Penelope, we've been watching CNN with baited breath, hoping you were safe during this "tropical storm". Are you nice and dry???
The answer to this question is, yes, I am quite nice and dry, still hanging out at Karen's parent's house. Tropical storm Eduardo was basically a bust, at least for us. Karen, who is still at our old house, which is way closer to the coast, is stuck at home, enjoying what has amounted to roughly a half inch of rain.
I plan to write more about all of this in a couple of days, as the whole experience is pretty ridiculous.
So stay tune, readers, stay tuned. . .

The Cat is Back

I thought I should dispel any rumors about my whereabouts as of late:

1. No, I am not Paris Hilton's spiritual advisor. She conferences with Barbara Walters

2. I did not run off with George Clooney. First of all, I'm a cat. I have no interest in George Clooney. He's just another human working stiff. Also, I've been spade. I have no yearnings, thanks to Karen, who would run off with George Clooney tomorrow, if she had the option. (And she had me spade???)

3. I was not in jail for attempted murder (or anything else for that matter). The authorities do not intimidate me. I can take the best of them.

4. I am not a contestant on the Bachelor. Again, I was spade in 2002. Furthermore, isn't the bachelor just a very small step above harems?

5. I did not get tickets to the NBA finals. I don't attend public sporting events. It's too loud.

6. I was not taking an extended nap brought on by a viewing of An Inconvenient Truth. I'm only an environmentalist to irritate Karen. I'm not about to do anything that would change my life.

7. I am not campaigning for Ron Paul. This is because I am a cat, and once again, CATS DO NOT WORK, or do anything which requires much effort. If Dr. Paul is relying on me to fund raise-- well, that explains why he doesn't have much money.

8. I was not lounging at a Scientology center. From what I gather about Scientology, I need to give them money to visit a "center". This is ridiculous, by the way. I have no pockets, how can anyone expect me to have money? They should want me to come just because I'm me.

9. I have not been chewing out Michael Moore for not including felines in his movie about the medical industry. Again, I'm a cat. I really don't have much to say about this, other than I'm against ANYTHING that allows Karen to take me more often to that place with the wretched man who sticks a cold tube up my ass, with very little apologies. He does this and then shines a light in my eyes and I'm the one who gets in trouble for making an attempt on his life.

There are some things I just don't understand.

Anyway, my absence has nothing to do with anything other than I didn't feel like working much during the day and when I did feel like writing Karen was home and allegedly needed to use the computer for "work". We had a nasty fight over this. I had Sadie barf in her underwear drawer.

Scruffy Looking Nerf Herders and Other Topics of Great Importance

First of all, the history channel ran a really great Star Wars documentary which I am watching as I type. I've seen several of these over the years, as Karen is truly a geek-- she's about one step away from dressing up like a wookie and going to the conventions.

Anyway, this one is definitely the best I've seen. It discussed thematic issues, archetypal characters, and connections with politics and culture. In a nutshell it explores the saga as the literary epic which it is. Journalists, literary scholars, film critics, and politicians make commentary throughout.

Speaking of politicians . . .

I don't say many positive things about politicians. However, I would like to say I was impressed with my congressional representative Ron Paul in the presidential debate. He sounded pretty good. I might would even consider voting for him except I'm not registered to vote and he probably won't make it to the "finals".

According to Karen, cats are not allowed to vote in the United States.

Is this true? Or is Karen just telling me this so she doesn't have to drive me to the polling place. I haven't found any evidence on this one way or another.

Now it is time for the Meme:

Before I begin with the assignment, I would like to say that I discovered several blogs with many pictures of naked humans in various positions. Since I am naked most of the time, this nudity does not concern me. But I was surprised to see so many people who opt to go sans clothes, as the humans I hang with wear clothes almost all of the time.

To each his own, I guess.

Anyway, I was tagged by Crabby (see link to the right). She wants me to send out a list of interesting blogs:

Whoever did this has WAY too much time on their hands:
Cats that look like Hitler-- the name says it all
http://www.catsthatlooklikehitler.com/cgi-bin/seigmiaow.pl

This isn't a blog, but I think this is worthwhile so I'm changing the rules. If you are a fan of the Bridget Jones books, this is Helen Fielding's continuation of the columns, the origin of Bridget if you will. These were published in the Independent in 2005.

Anyway, I am tired, so I will finish this after my nap.
