Hit Me Baby One More Time is Probably the Problem

"[My son] Casey died for a country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives."- Cindy Sheehan

Isn't that the truth!!!

By the way, there are 3,908 American casualties in Iraq since the invasion.

So what can I tell you: America has finally demonstrated a little faith in a presidential candidate of African heritage and guess what's "breaking news"???

Crazy-ass Britney

Headline News (I'm guess HN is a CNN style news station-- I don't know), was broadcasting live today outside an LA courtroom for the latest breaking news in the Britney Spears drama.

Why the crap is this "latest breaking news"? As I've said before who cares?

Furthermore, unless you've been living under a rock for the last year you should know that ole Britney is chemically, postpardumly, or some other garden variety of nuts. For this reason, coverage of Spears' latest drama is completely unnecessary.

Sorry guys, it's an election year.

We've got a wholly disaster in the middle east.

Osama released another tape.

All of this and a 24 hour news station has nothing better to do than send reporters to a Los Angeles courtroom and Cedar Sinai???

What a country!

Penelope, the Bag Lady had much the same reaction when she turned on the evening (national) news last night and caught the last story. You guessed it - Britney being wheeled out of her house on a stretcher! Who f*cking cares? Take those poor chillens from her and give them to someone who will care for them properly and be done with it! Then sterilize the stupid girl and let her carry on her march to death. Sheesh.

This is why I seldom watch what they call "news" anymore.

Maybe they are losing their audiences to the gossip programs like ET and feel they have to compete? Who knows!

It does go nicely with your very own White Trash Theater though ;)

I caught the Britney episode on BBC America last night. It was nestled between a story of Naples, Italy's 50 years of horrific garbage problems resulting in significant public health issues & a brief caption about Obama.

A FULL STORY on Britney.

So BBC America has deduced that Americans care about things in the following order:
1) Britney Spears
2) Problems in foreign countries (that don't have to do with the Middle East)
3) The upcoming elections, in as brief a time as possible

Thank you for the reminder of our troops in Iraq. Even as someone who has never watched American Idol, I needed the reality check.

I read somewhere that the news was not at all profitable for the networks until it became sensationalized. And now sensationalism has snowballed into what we have today.

I give the casualty figures only because it reminds me of the significance of what is going on in our world today.
